Help me with components for computer with 17 inch monitor under 1000

I would like an amd system since they are cheaper but I don't know about the motherboard sitution. It is not for gaming just word processing, must be very stable. I think a Duron 600 with 128 ram, 6 gig hard drive, cheap sound card, cheap winmodem, cheap speakers, stable motherboard, decent mid tower case will do, plus 32x cdrom and a floppy drive, oh and any video card, no 3dgames. I don't know for monitors, but a decent 17 inch that's not too curved and has a good warranty will do.
Can someone help me find prices and make suggestions please?

If you aren't playing games, what do you need 128MB of RAM for?

For hard drive I would get a 10GB 7200rpm, since it's not only games that take up alot of space these days. Go with a Matrox video card if you can.. if you don't want to spend for that, just buy some cheap card.

For monitors, I would suggest Optiquest/Viewsonic.
