Hey guys, I got my dad a christmas present of Creative Inspire 5.1 5300 speakers. As usual I was the one setting them up and it supprised me when the damn things wouldent work together at the same time. I only get sound out of one channel and the sound card he has is made spacifically for these speakers. (Sound Blaster Audigy. Luckily I had the digial camera handy and I took these pictures :

The sub

Back of the audigy

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE help me, I have tried every configuration known to man with these cables. I have checked the sub and everything is plugged in there. I have formated his computer hoping it was a software thing but it wasent, Please help me!!

Edit: all the speakers do work. but they do not work together. Only the speaker in the second port from the firewire port works. I am hoping this isnt a defective audigy...... please help me out boys. here is the hardware specs

AMD Athlon 1.4
Abit KG7 Raid
Sound Blaster Audigy MP3+
Visiontek Geforce 3
2x IBM 60GXP HDD's Raid-0
1GB PC2100 DDR
Enermax 365 Watt P/S:|

This might sound stupid.. but have you set the speaker setup in the Audigy HQ? 2nd jack from firewire port is front speaker if I remember correctly.. so it just might be you haven't set the speaker setup to 4 or 5.1 setup on your audigy.

In the mean time, I'll go and have a look at Inspire 5300 specs

yup, I already tried that but the thing still wont work, I am not to happy with the audigy, It wont let me install the driver update that they released either, Even after I format the drive, reinsert the audigy into the PCI slot, Reinstall all the drivers. Only once have I gotten it to work but that was in 2k..... Damn creative!!!!

Christmas gift turned into nightmare huh? 😀

From your pics, this is what I can tell. Your Front speaker out is connected to Rear speaker in and vice versa. There's a cable going out from Digital out on your audigy card. Inspire 5300 doesn't have Digital Din so there's no point for it. I'm thinking that you've connected Digital out into Center/Woofer on your sub.

Another thing to consider is sound source. If your sound source is stereo, your speaker won't put them out in 5.1. It can emulate 5.1 sound but it won't be true DD 5.1. Since Inspire 5300 doesn't have any digital din, I don't see how it can be DD5.1 other than it can create 5.1 sound field. If you have DVD connected to the computer, try that out and see.

Anyway, I'm on a kickass slow connection and it's taking me a while to find Inspire 5300 review with pics. So can you tell me what those inputs are on the sub? I can see Front / Rear / Center(Woofer) and something else on the right side of the sub. I'm assuming the whole mess of cables on the left are speaker out.

yes you are correct, the outputs go in this order: Front, Rear, Center/ Subwoofer, and that thing to the right is the volume control. and yes the whole mess is the speaker outs.

On my sblive, the green cable (front speakers) goes into the second mini plug port, not the first. Other than that, I don't know.

I've edited the previous post.. in case you didn't see it. 🙂

Another Edit

From one of the reviews;

A very nice feature of the Creative Inspires is that if you unplug the orange centre/subwoofer cable from the back of the subwoofer (NOT the sound card); the front channel is automatically split into three channels, resulting in all six speakers emitting audio.

If this is correct, it could explain why you're having problem with your speaker. Try taking the orange cable out since nothing's feeding it.

Good luck.

I just unplugged the orange cable and no change..... damn

accually I just checked again and now I have sound out of the front 2 and the center one at the same time! but thats with the orange cable unplugged. No back though....

accually now, I can feel the sound out of the middle speeker but when I do the test it dosent say anything when its name comes up but I can feel it when it says "front left" and "front right"

Weird.. never heard of anyone having so much trouble with speaker setup.. 🙁

Did you correct the cables on the back of Audigy card? it should be (from left) Firewire, Rear Out, Front Out, Mic In, Line In, and Digital out. Obviously, you only need Rear out and Front out. You did say that you've set the speaker setup in Audio HQ to 5.1 so that should be any problem...

Other than that... I'm lost. I have DTT2500, so all I needed to do was just connect digital din and I had dd5.1. Pretty simple to setup.

Better hope someone with Inspire 5300 comes along.. 😀

Yeah, I consider myself a very advanced computer user ( I work as a computer tech) I have build countless machines and you would think that I would install a set of speakers, Right now I am thinking that its the audigy. I think tommorow I am going to go buy one and exchange the one in my system now. If that dosent help then I have no clue what to do. I have done everything software related I know to do. I have formated and everything, I am thinking if that audigy dosent work than I will go to ME or 98 and see if that works, Creative's driver team has never been nice to NTFS op. systems.

Hmm... My Inspire 4.1 worked fine... Did you set the windows audio config as 5.1?

I had some problems too. The back speakers wouldn't sound either until I changed it to quadrophonic on the windows audio config.

suggest you look in the creative mixer & set the speakers there to 5.1 & test it there after that.
I have the same soundcard/speakers & the wires are colour coded to avoid setting them up incorrectly!

I have an Audigy soundcard and the Inspire 5.1 5300 speakers. If all else fails, then it might be your subwoofer which is the culprit. When I test the 5.1 channel the front left channel says centre and the centre speaker says front left. When I swapped the 2 speakers the front right didn't work. I replaced the sub only and now they work perfectly.

I suggest you replace the speakers with another set. I just tested this system on my dad's DVD player downstairs and the sound was superb. I think he might throw away his old 2.1 setup speakers after listening to the 5300's 🙂

yes they are. In that picture that was just me messing with the wires. I have tried every configuration possible.

yup it was a hardware problem. Now it accually says in device manager AUDIGY. THere are many more options in audio HQ. I am going to return the audigy I got today back to compUSA. Thanks for the help guys, These speakers are great!
