Mobo - ASUS P5B-E
Processor - C2D E6300
PSU Antec SmartPower 500W
Video Card- eVGA Geforce 7950 GT KO 512 MB
Ram - 2x1GB Corsair DDR2 800 5-5-5-12

I don't want to spend much more than I am right now, but I also want quality hardware. The thing i'm most unsure of is the mobo. I don't really want to spend $200+ on a mobo, but there don't seem to be any out for the c2d that i really like. I also would prefer better ram timings, but i don't think my budget will allow it. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Spend few more dollars and get 8800 GTS from dell for $345.
Get Enhance 500W PSU from eWiz for $70
I like 650i based Asus mobo.
For RAM, go with Patriot DDR2-800 for $245 (after $40 MIR. This is the one with micron chip)

you're set.

Go with a C2D E6600 if you can afford the relatively small premium. If you plan on OC'ing the E6300, just ignore that bit of advice. For me, I wanted something faster than the Athlon 64 X2's (since that's what I was upgrading from) without overclocking.

Everything else looks relatively fine. You're more than welcome to upgrade to a 8800GT(S/X) if you want. Your 500W should handle it just fine. Also, you may be able to drop those timings a bit and still be stable, just give it a try :).

The mobo is a good choice. There's no reason to spend more unless some other mobo provides you with something you really need.
