Can it be about anything? What class is this?

Just mlah about you and your dog, or how you're such a geek.

yeah.. it can be anything.. hobbies.. how to do something.. etc...

The class is Communication Applications (Speech credit required to graduate highschool in Texas, I am a senior... HS is almost over =*)

I would feel uncomfortable saying to the class..

" I LIKE COUNTER-STRIKE"
" I READ ANANDTECH FORUMS"

hehe =p

also considering the high school I attend is like 80% rich white (Abrecrombie and Fitch) arrogant a$$es.. (sorry if you are offended, don't mean to stereotype)

Talk about software piriateing and why it is so popular amoung college students. Maybe cause its conveinent and they are on limited budgets. The problems with it, if there are any. Your stance on it.

That should easily fill 2 minutes.

What'd you do over Christmas break? Thanksgiving? See any family members? Last summer? What will you do this summer? Where will you go to college in the fall? What will you major in? Why? How do you make a ham sandwich? How do you get to school? What roads do you take? What movie did you see last? What was it about? Like it? Dislike it? Why?

Question the logic of a popular "respect-based" school policy.

No hats in the building (note that Jews must wear hats of some sort out of respect in certain temples)

Can be a fun speech, I'd reccomend you put on a fedora and hope that your teacher forces you to take it off.

Possible reasons why you should be allowed to wear hats:

1. Can hide an embarrassing haircut that could hinder your attention and thus class performance if displayed.

2. Image is important to all people, and hats can make you more confident in your appearance, allowing you to be more comfortable and be less distracted.

3. Luck. Luck --> Confidence, (common theme) improves performance according to numerous studies.

4. Body heat regulation. Comfort--> Performance.

Improved performance is clearly a good thing.

If you appear nervous, note that inability to wear a hat has caused you to be so, and that if a hat could have only helped one person, could have helped you, it would have accomplished all it needs to have an overall positive influence in schools, as it has no logical negative effects.

I was always quite nervous speaking in front of people, but after joining the debate team and participating in several deabtes I am fat more comfortable. I making cases out of BS ideas like the above.

If you want to get class' attention, talk about something funny. Something that happed to you or to you friends a while back. Easy to talk about and you are guaranteed to have an A for the assignment.

Another good option: Why PBS Should make a sitcom out of sesame street.

Fun, stupid, should get a positive reaction from the class. Also makes plenty of sense.

PBS couldn't afford to make a new puppet so they dyed Grover red. (Elmo)

List of speech topics from various people in my last speech class.

Wakeboarding
Skatboarding
Snakeboarding
Snowboarding (All four speeches given by the same person)
Why to attend university X
Health benefits of being religious
Scuba diving
Hepatitis (sp?) C
Golfing
Necessity of washing hands
Why Orange County is da bomb (failed persuasive speech)
Paintball (great visual aid w/this one - the guy let someone else shoot him in the chest from about 10 ft away)
How to drive a stick shift (From the girl whose parents gave her a new Honda Civic for Xmas)
Rock climbing

(Will add more if I remember more)

Doing a speech on something computer related could really work for you, such as Counter-Strike. Just pick three main points and give evidence. Two minutes is a lot shorter than it sounds once you get going. Good luck

[Edit] Memory
Mock speech on how to write a love letter
Oh, and if all else fails, give a speech on how to give a speech. :) [\Edit]

yup, 2 minutes is really nothing once you get it going. I did a 15 min presentation that took 19 minutes, another fellow in my class did 28 minutes on a 15 minute presentation. Practice and time yourself.
