Help me upgrade

Hey guys, Im thinking about upgrading my system, but not too sure if I should do it now or wait a year. Im currently running a 3.0ghz prescott, with a gig of ram and 6800 ultra as my graphic card. I figure if I ever decide to upgrade to vista (In a year or so), Ill need to upgrade anyways. I also figure Id make my decesion on upgrading before black friday just incase some deals come up. System is mainly used for gaming. Im leaning towards buying some more ram until next year to upgrade. I dont have any preferences on AMD or Intel. So what do you guys think? Upgrade or wait?

Wait till after Christmas. Some prices need resolution. RAM is out of sight. With the new G80 just out, let's see where the prices finally settle.

Gamers have seen a price drop so far in 2 days.

Im taking it then I am due for an upgrade? I havent been following whats the latest and greatest, but what can 800dollars buy me now a days for a mobo/memory/cpu/video card? I dont want to upgrade unless itll be a good setup. Thanks.

Gonna use a existing case and psu? As far as Intel goes looking at a E6300 or E6400 with a 965 mobo most likely. Some of these are great overclockers and Quadcore compatible. 1gb or 2Gb RAM. The Rest into Video card. New cards and mobos launch next week so watch for that.

Ya, I think my psu is still pretty good. I have the Ultra X-connect 500w PSU. My case might need to be changed, im running the thermal case tsunami. Thanks for the reply.

Oooooo.... you said a naughty word! People around here dont like those Ultra X-Connect units. They seem to have a bad rep. If you plan on eventually migrating to a G80 model someday (or ATI's version whatever that may be) might want to step up to a 600w unit.

The X-Connect is terrible...only PSU from Ultra that isn't made by WinTech. I think it's a very bad design by Andyson but I'm not sure. Either way, replace it ASAP.
