I'm glad I asked because I was considering an FX5200. That was a close call. I may have to reconsider the ATi stuff though.

The 128-bit FX5200s aren't *that* bad (I mean, they're bad, but they're not horrific). The 64-bit ones *are* that bad. Of course, so are the 64-bit "SE" versions of the RADEON 9000/9200 and 9500/9550/9600.

The GF4Ti4200/4600 are okay cards (and a decent step up from the GF3), but I'd shoot for a RADEON 9600 or GF5700 if possible, for DX9 compatibility if nothing else (in case you want to play some newer games, albeit at low settings).

The GF6600 (or a RADEON 9700Pro/9800/9800Pro) is also good card, but you're not going to find one for $30 yet. :p
