I get the part about upping the FSB in small steps but at what point do you start fiddling with VCore? Do you start upping VCore when the system will no longer boot?
No you don't want to leave it that late ,doing a quick ~5min test (passing Test 1)with Prime95 will avoid that ,if the test fails you need to either up the vcore 1step or lower the FSB a little.Depending on CPU temps & what you have decieded is the max vcore you want to use.
As for finding your RAMs o/cing abilities you do need to do that seperatly from finding your CPUs max speed ,if you did both at the same time you wouldn't know which had caused the test to fail.Whichever one you test 1st you'll want the other to stay at or near default settings, or be underclocked (if you can).
IIRC you can lower the multiplier on C2Ds but not raise them (extreme's excluded) ,so you could underclock the CPU to then find out the best speed & timings for your RAM*.
Once you've done that set the RAM/FSB ratio to 1:1,put your CPU multi back to default & then find out your CPUs max o/c.
*Another way you could find max RAM speed would be to leave the RAM/FSB ratio on 2:1 & increase the FSB ,chances are the RAM will hit its limit before the CPU does.Though that is an assumption your making.Keeping the CPU at or below default speeds gaurentees the CPU isn't tripping you up
