Hello everyone!! I was hoping someone could help me here. I've had this computer for a couple years, my friend built it for me to pretty much just go on the internet and do some word processing. Its been great, but lately its starting to show its age. I have about 300-400 dollars that I would like to use to update it. Does anyone have any suggestions of what I should do?

Here is a link to the computer profile:

Here are the requirements of my favorite computer game (only one I play!)

Processor: Pentium® III 733 MHz or compatible (Pentium® 4 1.2 GHz or compatible recommended)
Memory: 128 MB RAM; 256 MB for XP (256 MB; 384 MB for XP recommended)
Hard Disk Space: 600 MB free
CD-ROM Drive: 4X CD-ROM or faster (8X or faster recommended)
Video:Any ATI Radeon? or GeForce? 2 with 32MB or higher; or other video card with 32MB and hardware T&L (ATI Radeon? 64 MB SDR or GeForce? 2 Pro or other video card with 64 MB or more memory and hardware T&L recommended)*
Sound: Windows® 98/Me/2000/XP-compatible 16-bit sound card*
DirectX®: DirectX® version 9 (included) or higher

So what do ya guys think?? Is it possible to make this computer better? I find that if I'm playing the game after a while, it starts to get very choppy.

Thanks!!

Come on guys, you can do better! The OP had a Intel Celeron 2.4GHz system with 512MB of ram and a Radeon X1650 video card. Looking at the requirements of his game, his video card should have no problem at all with this game! The only thing the OP really needs is more ram unless he really wants to spend $300-$400 because it's burning a hole in his pocket.

What i suggest copgtp is adding a 1GB stick of ddr to your system. You'll have 1.5GB of ram which should help boost your system performance nicely.

Here's a link to it:

This Crucial 1GB stick for $52.99 will give you a nice boost in speed. And if you still aren't happy with the computer, then you'll still have a decent secondary pc to use if you want to buy a new computer. :)

you can buy a nice new system, since you do not need anything fancy, I'd say spend it on a dell.
