I've googled the crap out of this toy and can't find it anything that looks remotely like it. When I was growing up in the 80's I got a toy for xmas and I'll describe it as follows:

The case was a wooden box. Maybe 14"x14"x5" and inside the box was a steel ball that you had to transport from the entry point, through a series of challenges, to the exit point. It was not the typical 2 axis platform maze, but rather an obstacle course style set of challenges that happened in succession. The idea was to prevent the ball from falling off the transport mechanisms into the bottom of the box where you'd be disqualified. There were several hand controls across the front of the box that operated each individual challenge. I don't remember every challenge but I do remember there was a triple teeter-toter style challenge that required good tempo. Another was a maze and the last challenge was a catapult type challenge.

Does anyone remember this toy? I'd like to get one for my kids for xmas to show them what daddy used to play with before there were playstations. haha

I had one and my kids have one. It has all the game parts you mentioned but ours are/were plastic.

GOD DAMN that's a flashback.
Mine was yellow.
AWESOME.

Haha, yeah I'm pumped. I did what any self respecting dad would do. I bought it along with several other 80's era toys and gadgets that I'd also like to play with again. I also picked up a bunch of neodymium spheres. I know my daughter will love them and I've always wanted to play with them too. I can only handle so much La la Loopsie :(

My son will be getting a PS4 for Christmas this year... so I ...er we... er... HE can play it with his friends :)

Thought you were talking about the Cube Maze. We used to get them in our stocking every year. Those things sucked but were fun at the same time and would keep you occupied for awhile.

Another cool one for younger kids is Adam's Cube which helps them develop that spatial cognition. This would be good for boys after puberty when the math side of the brain really takes off, but usually boys that age will be developing their spatial intel with maps of MMORPG dungeons or city grids in GTA. /sigh

I had never heard of that game until this thread. I sent a text to my wife and I'm pretty sure we're getting it for our family for Christmas so thanks!

careful with those. You can easily shred through some organ tissue with those magnets
