I have a HP Media Center 884 (3.06HT, 533mhz fsb, 512 ddr, 160gb hd, 128mb ti4200 card, SB Audigy).
I recently received a Dell Optiplex GX270 (P4 2.6, 800mhz fsb, 1024MB of 400mhz ddr, 80gb, bad video/sound). Should I take the hard drive / video / sound card out of the HP and slap into the dell? The dell BIOS has an option for hyper-threading and it was initially disabled... I enabled it and windows updated with multi-processor. Why would it be disabled by default? Would the 3.06 drop in the 2.6 slot? I just want to make the best machine if I can.
