Help me think of an idea for a Math Project

Well, my grade in math is hurting and we have to come up with our own ideas for a math project that would be worth extra credit. Since I'm not creative, anyone on the ATOT have any ideas they'd like to toss out?

make a huge thing for pascals triangle

One person in my class printed out little hexagons each having its own number, then stapled all of them to the wall. Looked pretty neat, helped during tests with Permutations/Combinations

That doesn't prove anything. x!=2x at any position other than 0. All that expression is telling you is that the lines y=x and y=2x intersect at 0. Come on, the guy says he's doing bad enough in math already, and here you go trying to screw him up further.

Sorry, I'm in Pre-Calc but I heard you can do some neat things in Calculus so I could probably understand what I would be doing if it was Calculus related.

I'm not doing that BAD in math, so I'm not an idiot. I'm taking Pre-Calc and got an A last semester, I screwed up and got a C+ and a B on the last two tests and want to bring up my grade so I can get back into the A range.

Ummmm.... I always thought that any number multiplied by 0 equaled 0.

If you've done some basic stats in pre-calc, how about a statistics project where you could investigate, for example if there is a relationship between GPA and SAT, GPA and hours of homework done nightly, etc.

No, no statistics. My teacher thinks that a whole report on comparing two things that most people wouldn't care about is not worth anyones time.

I've done some math projects... I did two in 9th Grade when I took Pre-Calc. Why not do something that intrests you? If you're interested in sports, find out who the best player is in your fav sport. Etc.

Here's one, prove that there is no integer z such that x^3 + y^3 = z^3 for integers x and y.

simple and impressive: do a report on fractals and write a c++ program to draw fractals

How about doing some simple cryptology. You can use something like a scytale and show how it works mathematically.

Show how to do 3d graphing. Nothing advanced, just how to plot points in 3d. You won't be doing it until you reach Multivariable Calculus, but it's really simple to learn. Just like graphing in 2d with an extra point..

How about proving the trig functions. Just a draw a triangle, and from there derive the sin, cos, tan, cot, and other trig function.

or you can do a 64x64 matrix... but that will take a computer long time to compute...
