Thnank you everybody! I ordered the parts already and also add the SSD. This is my parts:

Motherboards- GIGABYTE GA-B75M-D3V LGA 1155
RAM- G.SKILL Value Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333
CPU- Intel Core i3-2100 BX80623I32100 <<< was on sale for $90!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SSD- 830 Series MZ-7PC128B/WW 2.5" 128GB SATA III <<< was on sale for $100 !!!!!

I like to thank everybody here for helping me buy the parts. Now I wait and maybe put the parts together this Sunday. My friend is putting the parts together. I will watch so I can learn what the parts do.

 nice parts. Be sure to let us know if you run into any trouble during the build (or just want to report back with success 🙂 )

I will report back, mfenn. I have 1 other question to ask everbody because I forgot to ask my friend this.

I have Windows 98 (Second Edition?) and I use Photoshop 5.5. Will the 3 new parts work with them? Or do I have to upgrade to Windows 7 and Photoshop CS6?

😱 I really doubt that will work with any new machine. The drivers just aren't updated. I tried installing Windows 2000 on a Phenom II awhile back, but it didn't work.

If you want to avoid paying for a new OS, you could get Linux (e.g. Mint, not Debian Edition unless you really know what you're doing), install VirtualBox OSE, and run a Windows 98 VM in there.

I would imagine Photoshop would work on any later Windows OS.

Oh dear, software is going to blow your budget.

Found a brand new Dell including W7 for $350 if that helps anything (EDIT: crap, I see you already ordered parts)...

Also you might check out Linux and GIMP which is free. GIMP will be a learning curve but @ your budget something needs to give.

As Ken g6 noted, Windows 98 (any version) probably will not work with your new motherboard. However, if you are a student, your school may offer Windows7 for a big discount. If not, Newegg sells an OEM copy for $99.99. Newegg, Fry's and other stores often have it on sale for less so watch their ads, at least until you absolutely need to get it done.

Yeah, I agree. I suppose we should have asked, but most people don't have Windows 98 era rigs. I agree with the Linux Mint + GIMP suggestion. The GIMP should be able to do anything that a Photoshop version as old as 5.5 could do.

I talk to my friend at computer repair shop today and he said he have extra lisence for Windows 7 so I am happy because I almost don't have money already. The computer parts are here tomorrow for shipping then me and my friend are building it Sunday. He said the new CPU will be faster than my Abit BP6 CPU machine. I am so happy!

That's probably the understatement of the century!

I am back. I am happy to tell everybody that my new computer parts work together and my new computer is runninng. It is way so much faster than my Abit BP6. Wow! I don't have to wait long in Photoshop. I can have many pictures open and the filters are so fast now. Wow! Everything is good. I am so happy!

My friend asks if what I'm gonna do with my BP6 computer. I say maybe put it on Craigslists. He laugh. Then I laugh.

Thank you everybody.
