OK, so i've got a few dollars to spend and i wanna upgrade my computer. Here's my current setup:

900mhz TBird
Geforce 2 GTS
40 GIg 7200 rpm hard drive
256mb ram
turtle beach santa cruz
cambridge soundworks fps-1000 speakers

I'm either gonna get a video card (geforce3 ti 200), new cpu (1.4 ghz tbird), bigger hard drive (whatever 150 can get), or some logitech z560's. I'll also sell whatever component it is i'm replacing. So tell me, what would you get?

Honestly, I don't think you should buy any of those.
Processor: wait till you can double the speed (get at least an 1800mhz (XP2200+ or higher). If you're going to do a processor, also get a new MB and some DDR)
Graphics card: Wait till you can afford a GF4. I've always skipped a generation in graphics. Each incremental generation is never worth the cash (but I am in line the first day the next generation comes out)
HD: Only if you need it. 40 is quite good unless you're holding massive quantities of porn/mp3s/movies. With these I usually wait till either a newer(faster) technology comes out, or I can quadruple my current space. So hold out for an ata133 160GB.
Sound: Thats your call

What components do you have now? For me, deciding what part to upgrade is always more a matter of what needs to be replaced ;)

<< i listed em up in my original post >>

Doh!

I read too fast (or didn't read very much at all :)) and thought those things you wrote in list format were the things you were considering to buy...I think I need to sleep soon :)

I voted GF3..make sure its the Gainward, so you can OC it and make it run faster than a Ti500. :)

Nobody can answer that question but yourself. What do you need the most? I'd wait for XP2200+ on new core(whatever it was called) and it's motherboard to be released quite soon if you can't say there is something you need to upgrade right now.

i vote for save. your system's very capable.

if i had to pick one, i'd pick the z560's. that is, if you listen to lots of music and live somewhere that you can crank it up loud.
