Help me setup a P4 system

I recived P4B533 and p4 1.6a today.
I got new p4 power supply.
now, I took out HD and CD room from my previous P3 system.
When I boot up the computer, it will not dectect niether HD or CD rom.(master,slave setup properly)
If I disconnect CD room drive(ide and power) system detects HD.
However I can not start windows, it says there is something wrong with HD and I have to restart.
But If I slap that HD back to P3 system, it works just fine.

now back to CD rom, if I connect both power/IDE cable, cd wont even work, doesn't even have power, I cant even open the tray during boot up. If I disconnect IDE cable,, it does work, it has power and tray opens during boot up..


any help?

I had kind of the same thing happen to me when I went from an AMD 1.33 to a P4 2.4 ... P4 would not boot to XP or Linux... issue was the new motherboard saw the geometry of the harddrives differently... and to reformat and reinstall... you may need to do the same...

ok I understand I need to format HD
but I dont see how that has anything to do with BIOS not dectecting and CD rom not working.
shouldn't they work even if HD needs to be formated?
