I just got the linksys 4 port router with 2 computers hooked up to it, one has winme, the other has win98 first edition. they are both on the same workgroup and both have unique names. i ALSO have the access level to full on both computers.
on the windows 98 first edition I can fully access itself on the network and can also access the winme computer and all its files on the computer.
The winme computer is the one I have had problems with.
At times, it couldn't access the network even when the other computer could access it. Now it gets on the network and It can see itself on the workgroup and can go through the files. I also see the win98 computer, but when I double click on it, I get the same error message I got when it didn't recognize the network:
//family is not accessible
Windows cannot find the computer or share name. Make sure the computer or share name is valid and that you are connected to the network and try again.

I am out of ideas, do you have any?

You sharing anything out of the win98 machine? If not then you can't see anything by double clicking it in the network neighborhood...just see the name but no shares to connect to. If you are sharing a folder then try mapping to it by using the "\\servername\foldersharename". Hopefully this helps.

yeah i tried that too, it is just not connecting to it, I see it , but it thinks it doesn't exist. I have tried many different things, but it just doesn't wanna connect to this computer, even though that computer can connect to it
