A longshot here. Double-click your volume control to get the full volume panel. Make sure that none of the volumes are disabled and volume sliders are at the bottom. I know you're probably way beyond this, so ignore this suggestion if it offends you in any way...

What is the title of the CD? The CD could easily have copy protection on it, helping prevent you from ripping it as wav files. My suggestion is to try and dupe the CD using CloneCD. CloneCD will rip it as an image, but without the copy protection. Once that is done, you can rip the burned CD.

A lot of hassle to go through for a CD you already own, no?

ahh good call Vash, where can I get CloneCD?

I have Nero, is there any such functionality in that program?

By the way, the cd is Zwan's "Mary Star of the Sea". Awesome album. I come from being a Smashing Pumpkins fan since age 7, so Ive followed Billy Corgan on over to new band Zwan, and its been brilliant stuff since the humble beginning, about 2 years ago (even though since their album only JUST got released, everyone thinks they are 'brand new')

I dont yet have a cd player in my car, so I wanted to put mp3s onto my iPaq so I could "Listen to the cd" hehe

but ill try another cd right now.
