What setting do I need to change on my laptop to make the image from my infocus projector larger? The ratio is maxed out on the projector image. As soon as it picks up the laptop signal, it gets smaller.
Laptop is an HP 6730b

The knob is maxed out and the room is too small to move the projector.
I am confused why the projector would start at one size then the size changes after it picks up the laptop.

It's at native resolution.

What res are you running on the laptop when the projector is on?

If 1024x768 or 1280x1040 try 800x600.

If that doesnt do anything check ur projector settings, somethings wonky.

it really seems like you're running at less than native on the projector, and the projector is set not to scale the input up.

Make sure you're outputting native resolution?

This, or if your laptop has a few output modes, you might want to try all of them. We have some old dells (old D600 series, I think) that have 3 or 4 output modes and you have to cycle through the function key on the kb to get the right one. If the display outputted isn't #2 and the one on the laptop isn't #1, the resolution is wrong for both. I think they even have a zoom button on one of those fn keys IIRC.

Also, make sure the input mode on the projector is set correctly for computer (vga/dvi modes), some of our eiki's have different input modes that can cause issues like that.

Tried all FN keys, projector settings. It's running at native resolution.

I need a short throw projector for these small class rooms.

On some of those InFocus models the lens slides in and out. See if it's a pull out lens. And you're old enough to know "Wrong forum!". Good luck

This one has a knob but it's at the largest setting.

I posted this in the lifer forum too but this one gets a little more traffic.

are you mirroring the display on the laptop? if so try outputting to the projector only.

also see if the gfx driver on the laptop has any overscan settings

None of us are particularly smart, which is how we ended up trapped in olds' basement anyway.

For instance, I'm so dim, at times I can't fully comprehend or remember what the phrase "wrong forum" pertains to, though I do have the feeling it is vitally important in some way.

I called Dell and they loaned me a short throw projector. Much bigger image at short distances
I am going to try it out next week in Los Angeles.
