How to find out the week of production for Intel PIII CPU? Can you easily overclock 700 to 933 (cB0 stepping)

I went to overclockers.com and most of them got it run at 1 GHz and above...Is it true?

Yea the cB0 stepping is Very good, I'd estimate it to be 900-1000 depending on clock multiplier...
I know this P3-650E (cB0) does 910 without ANY complaints, Stock Voltage and Retail HS/F, it'll do 975Mhz but now I'm puching my RAM a bit, I think I'll need alittle more cooling and voltage to make that rock stable...

I have problems reading those damn production codes too, never got that much into it as the stepping is most important..

I'm kinda scared to buy this CPU, since Intel recall the 933 PIII caused by heat problem. I'm afraid the 700 won't do 933 that easily.

Well, I finally found the article about CuMine being withdrawed from The Register:

<<...The highlights? Refunds on boxed Xeons because of lack of motherboard support, 933MHz has thermal problems which may take until the end of June to solve...>>

Read the article here: http://www.theregister.co.uk/content/archive/11178.html

I'm not sure if it's just Xeon or Pentium.

Apparently, Intel only suspended boxed Xeon 933 MHz processor, not the Pentium. This is good news for overclockers :).

<<...As previously indicated, Intel has decided to temporarily suspend shipments of Boxed Intel Pentium III Xeon? processors 933, 866, 800, 733, 667, 600MHz with 256KB on-die L2 cache (prior code name: Cascades) to Intel Authorized Distributors. This notice does not impact shipments of Boxed Intel Pentium III Xeon processors 550 MHz with 512kKB, 1MB or 2MB L2 cache or any other Intel Boxed Processors.

On May 24, 2000 Intel introduced the Intel Pentium III processor 933MHz. This processor is built using advanced Intel 0.18-micron process technology that enables faster processor speeds, new performance enhancing features and lower power consumption. Pending completion and validation of a new thermal solution, the boxed version of this processor is expected to begin shipping in late June. Boxed processors ship with a high quality thermal solution in the box....>>
