My 8RDA+ has the newer A3 stepping chip and stock VDD of 1.55 volts and right out of the box I hit 245fsb but of course that was with the memory (just good PC2100 Samsung) running at only 60% but still it rocked... Now have it running 215fsb with the memory at 100% (got some new Twinmos/Twinmos $59 per 256meg) and it runs very well at 10X215... 2150mhz

I wonder if doing the VDD mod would allow me to run higher fsb speeds again...? (memory is at 2-2-2-6)

Most likely, "out of the box" I tested up to 230fsb without my ram in SYNC.

Only when I tried to keep ram and fsb in SYNC did I have trouble getting over 200fsb stable.

Wierd thing is, as long as I was OUT OF SYNC , I could get my ram to 220 and my fsb to 220.

Once I tried in SYNC, 194fsb was my max "stable".

im in the same boat as you confused. i have my fsb on my 8rda+ at 200 w/ an XP1600 palo and my pc2100 at 133..not the best settings but it flies and idles at 41c. no mods watsoever..just a little extra juice in the core. im sure if i had better memory it would be even faster. i gota wait till next billing cycle on my credit card. :)

I consider myself one of the lucky ones I guess (about time something in life finally went right, just wish it was the big lotto or something :)

I am @ 200 x11.5 on my 8rda+, Xp2100 0304, 2x256mb pc3200 twinmos/winbond 5-2-2-2.
Only thing I have done is put some AS3 on the NB and put the stock HS back on. Thats it.
2.3ghz, prime95+UnrealII stable(simultaneous)
Vcore is 1.775,vdimm2.77. I could probably try and get her to 205 or so, but I am pretty happy where it is!

Do I need to remove the motherboard from the casing if I want to remove the Northbridge heatsink?

::update::

Well.. got some time in spring break to yank apart my system and apply some AS III on the northbridge heatsink and stuff, and in the meantime also noticed that it's A3 stepping :)

Previously I couldn't even boot and load Windows properly at 200Mhz FSB but now as I am typing this, 200MHz !!

Haven't dont any stability tests yet thought..so far so good!

Question: Everytime you change ur FSB or CPU speed, does prime95 blinks in the system tray and tells you something like "Possible failure yak yak yak" ? If no then something's wrong :(

Are you changing your FSB from windows using a program?.Thats probably causing prime to blink.

Nope...
I upped the voltage to 1.85v, running at 190x10.5..just minutes ago at 1.825v it gave me a roundoff error, and at 1.80 it gave some sorta xxxxxxx != xxxxxxx error. Right now it seems fine

I think there simply isnt other choice other than doing a Vdd mod if I want 200 FSB :(

*me cries*

i just did the vdd mod, going from 1.55-1.6v to 1.72v (using 1k ohm resistor)

put some tpaste on the northbridge hsf

im at 10 x 220 on some generic pc3200

DO THE VDD MOD!!!

I'm having the same problems, can't reach 200fsb even if I set cpu and ram separately, with cpu at stock speed (1700+ tbred B). I'm going to have to do the vdd mod. Which soldering gun should I get? Should I get one of the pencil ones?

Dave

Edit If I go with the 1K ohm fixed resistor, which wattage should I get? Radioshack sells both 1/2 W and 1/4 W fixed 1K resistors.

211MHz on FSB, RAM (now Samsung PC2700) at 83% of FSB, for 176MHz

It won't even do 200MHz in sync, getting RAM errors on bootup (C1), whereas the RAM will do 202 in my Asus P4PE :(

I'm waiting to get some better memory soon, hopefully a pair of 512MB PC3200 :)
