HELP ME PLEASE

I got 2 drives WD 180G 8MB and Maxtor ATA 133 120G 2MB.
I only do video capturing and editing... so I want the fastest drive as boot drive... I heard that espcecially for video, never partition the drive is it true?? Will it decrease the performance if I do so??
Here is my plan if partition is allow
180G into 2 drive 20G for OS 140 for storage
maxtor 120G for storage
or just 180G and 120G as a whole thing and 180G is boot drive
help me please

Well that recommendation is more for speed than anything else.

When capturing video it's best to have your fastest drive as your exclusive capture drive and keep the OS off that drive. Reason is because the OS still needs to access the HD while you are capturing and this will cause dropped frames in your captures. If you really want to go nuts make sure that your capture drive has it's own IDE channel or at least make sure it doesn't have a CDROM drive on the same IDE channel. This will keep the capture data flowing nicely to your drive.

So long story short:
1 HD for OS, partition all you want.
1 HD for capture, keep CDROM drives off this IDE channel or put in it's own IDE channel.

PS, next time make a better title like "Video capture question" or something more descriptive than "HELP ME PLEASE" and you might get more responses.
