Alright so pretty much i am having an issue with my desktop. Say i hit the key print screen, i should see what i see on my monitor. What every is within the size of the screen is what i should see in the picture right? Well when i do this i happen to get that, but the actual background seems to be off to the side when i take the picture and paste it into the paint application. This is what it looks like.

Now here is what i have as in spec. radeon 9800pro
windows xp home sp1a
res on 1024 by 768
color bit 32
15 inch monitor flat screen crt

Now i have changed the background various times only to find it still does the same thing. i never had this problem. I have updated my video card drivers. and the video card is fine. I am sure that if i re-install windows xp it will work again. but i really dont wanna go threw the trouble of doing that if it can be fixed. Oh and on top of that. this is the best part. You know when your mouse goes all the way to the left side by the icons? Well my does that and goes beyond like if the background extends further. So if anyone can help please do. This is getting on my nerves. thanks for your time.

It looks like you have dual monitors turned on (the smaller left screen is what the second monitor would show). Right-click on your desktop and click Properties... In there you should be able to turn off the second output and fix it.

Do you have a monitor with picture and picture and manged to plug in both output from the video card? Your monitor has two plugs, and the video card has two outputs, but the monitor should only receive ONE cable per video card. The two plugs on the video card are for connecting two separate monitors, and the two plugs on the monitor is either for backwards compatibility, or in some more advanced monitors, to connect two seperate computers and have the ability to switch between them by pressing a button on the monitor.

Sometimes unsupported refresh rates will move a desktop partially off screen.. Try changing resolutions and refresh rates.

I believe he means don't set the the video card refresh rate to anything higher than the native support of the monitor (or lower for that matter). For example Mine is 60Hz and thats what I run at.

Also why are you still using Service Pack 1?

for some reason. when i go to connect my dvi to vga cable to it. it doesnt work. i tried everything. i think it may be the driver i used to update it from ati. but without that driver i can play counter strike source cause the skins come up as black.

Hah...SP2 was released before Genuine Windows Advantage though, there are plenty of online sites that still host the original SP2 executable.

Chances are the same will occur for SP3, an executable will be distributed or leaked, since Microsoft is providing the SP3 beta as freeware, I'm sure they have a SP3 executable someone will accidentally leak out =)

or you know, they will release CRACKED versions of it as well... there is a cracked version of IE7 and of WMP11 that always "validate" as genuine no matter what :)
And microsoft went ahead and removed the geniune check for IE7 due to lack of acceptance.
