Well, my cellphone officially died.

Which means YOU get to pick a new one for me! I had a Cingular S55/56 by siemens, and i liked it, but now it's dead and that's sad.

reqs: bluetooth (duh), GSM (ideally 4-band), camera, SYNC WITH OUTLOOK (contacts, and CALENDAR very impt).

I think that's about it... I'm kind of looking at the linux based cellphones due to customizability. What do you think? I like the treo 650, but its too expensive.

I'm allowed a new phone in my contract, but I'm not sure how that /actually/ effets pricing. no new plans though. I'm looking to spend 200-300 or less.

Let the suggestions begin!

Flip or bar?

Nokia 6630

I'm a huge nokia whore, Series 60 powered phones can be a ton of fun. I've got a bunch of cool games on mine that I've downloaded, hell you can even play a ported version of Doom on them. I've also got an NES emulator that runs perfectly with sound at 30+ FPS, and I have one of the older S60 phones around. I've downloaded a web browser so I can browse the web (Not just WAP sites) too...

treo 650

On a good deal I think you can get it for less then 200 bucks with rebates. Also be prepared to pay the 45 bucks a month for unlimited data.

Forgot to mention -- the $45 unlimited data plan isn't worth it... it's just too expensive w/o any gain.

Also, I've seen some with wifi support and full web browsing..... which would be sweet, since there's tons of hotspots around here.

If you're going to discount the treo...at least suggest a nice flip or something... Way to go on the half ass bar suggestion.

I really couldn't agree more. I absolutely LOVE THIS PHONE! Use beta player to play videos because WMPLAYER on the phone won't play DIVX files.

The latter, PDA phone combos aren't good. You don't really want to necessarily bring a PDA to a bar with you for example. But if you need to get a map, you CAN actually go to yahoo maps and get a map on your smartphone. You also could get a GPS kit for the smartphone (works on smartphones) that includes maps and GPS reciever (not absolutely sure how it works). I've watched movies on my smartphone and it's decent, I for the most part just put my music on thier and just listen to it because I don't really get into situations where I'm goanna wait for 2 hours. I will likely get some simpsons episodes and convert them to the phone's size so I can watch them when I'm waiting for what ever.
