That's like skimping on good coolant for a car, you don't do that.

All of the models the OP is considering are high quality. It really does *not* matter in this instance which one he goes with.

I assumed he meant to get the cheapest cooler you could find...obviously if it was between the HR-03 or the Accelero S1, you'd have to weigh whether or not the HR-03 is worth the extra cost to you.

Cheapest? No. 30-40 isn't cheap. I do feel 60 is too much for me plus i didn't have the space for it.

Zalman and heatsinks are actually 43 and Duorb was 42 i think at newegg and 38 at zzf. With a $5 difference, which one's cheaper doesn't make too much difference.

The HR-03 was the best rated in the hardocp article. But the Zalman and Duorb were 2 of the next 3 highest rated. Looks like the accelero would have given the 03 a run for it's money, or maybe even won the roundup had it been included. Both are definite considerations for the next build.

Zalman and sinks just got in today...

The zalman fan plugs into the connector on the card from what i've read. Seeing as the bios still uses 29% as a default, i assume i still need to continue using my fan profiles via rivatuner, right? If so, should i use multiples or just set one profile at about 90% or something?

The accelero s1 cools as good as the zalman vf900 and the thermalright hr-03 but without a fan :) completely passive and yet it cools as good if not better than the other two. and it only takes up two slots, like a normal gts or gtx would :) and its only about $20
