Im gonna break the rules and recommend an american car (made in Canada though) ... Chrysler 300M, It will meet and surpass your needs.

Accord an 6 are nice, but Im going to get it righ this time. I intend to have this car until it dies, so I want somethin gI will be happy with. Not to imply those are bad cars by any means, just not for me. Though, the 6 is a beautiful car.

325 > A4 > Mercedes C

Maxima > Saab (both in a different league)

Good luck finding a new 3-series BMW for $30k. Same for Audi and MB (you said you wanted V6 engine & 4 doors). These will all be mid 30k+ cars. Add TTL and you're close to 40k out the door.

They are also quite a bit smaller than the new Maxima.

For the love of god...Don't buy a Chrysler!!! They are horrible for reliability.

Still, you could get a new one now for around $30k.

Nissan Maxima all the way.

no american cars, no sporty micro cars.

I'm a little lost. I like the new saab 93's, but they are front wheel drive with the turbo 4...

I would suggest you test drive some of those cars ... I would personnally suggest the TSX auto even if it's only 4 cyl. It's extremely smooth for a 4. I personnally don't like the Maxima's interior (or exterior for that matter) because it feels pretty cheap. I'd also look at a used Lexus IS300 and TL type-S, these are awesome cars. If you want to keep your car for a long time and not pay a lot of money on maintenance, I would suggest you refrain on buying any german cars (high maintenance cost).

good advice. My friends always say "but they're never in the shop".

So lets see, TSX, Maxima, used is300, or tl. I'm going to build a tsx right now. I don't really want speed anymore, just comfort.

Yeah, I completely forgot about the Acura 3.2TL. That is a really nice car for the money. You could buy a new TL Type-S for $31k completely loaded. Go check it out. They are sweet.

It was out of my price range when I bought my Maxima (I bought my 2003 Maxima SE w/moonroof for $22k back in April-I love it).

How about a Volvo or Accord V6? Both are very nice, the Volvo S80 will be a little more, but it is a nice car overall, and very safe. The Accord is great too, I like the 2003/04 Accords. The Accord will probably max out around 25K without V6 and no navigation system. Add like 1k more for nav system. IMO, the Accord is the way to go, although, check out a Volvo dealership.

If you've never gone to buy or haggle a Volvo, they have a very high amount of profit margin so haggling with them is by far the easiest of most cars.

Sounds like we are shoping for the same car. I'm torn between the Accord 6 speed V6 and the Acura TSX. They are both nice an have strong points. I know I'll buy both.

If you plan to keep the car for a while, don't get those european cars... maintaince cost will kill you... I would stick to Japanese cars for reliability and low maintaince costs...

I went and checked out the Maxima before... while it's a nice car, I felt the interior quality just doesn't match up to the Accord or TL... Same goes for the Altima, interior feels cheap...

Admittedly, I was a TSX basher. But, since I have come to my senses about it, it is looking VERY attractive. Slick shifting 6 speed, excellent interior, tons of ammenities not tacked on as pricey options, very nice looking, and decent compromise between power & economy in the 4 cyl. I like it a lot. I might even stop in at the Acura dealer tomorrow and give one a test drive :)

TSX is quite a bit smaller than the Maxima though isn't it? I think I'd take the Acura 3.2TL over the TSX.

I fell ike a jackass...I bought my car back in March, though, I have put on quite a few miles.

At this point I could sell it at minimal loss. I was given some graduation money, to if you count that, I will still be up. Still, I feel like an ass.
