Ok, I've been out of the scene for a bit and haven't found too much as far as bench marks go for the cards I've been looking at. I only have $80 to spend (I know.. not much but hey.. I need a new card! lol) and my MX4000 is a piece of junk. I can't play Fable or Black & White 2.

Here's a list of cards that seem to fit my profile. I just need your guys' opinions on which AGP card you think is best, or if you know of what that maybe better for the price.

One's I've been looking at:

FX5700LE 128MB
FX5500 256MB
9600 Pro
6200 256MB

Any other suggestions are welcome.. as long as they don't cost over $80.. hehe.. I might be able to tip to $100 max.. but that's cutting this poor man's budget close. Thanks! :)

For a new card, this might be what you want to consider. If you can get $100 you might be able to find a used 9800pro with better performance in the fs/ft forums if you want to go that route.

9800pro if you can find one in FS/FT forum. Probably the best card you can get for around that price range.

Thanks for the help guys. The 6200 is probably my best bet for a few months until I can scrape up enough for a real card. I have an AMD 64 3200+ so the video is the only thing slowing my games down. Even with a crappy MX4000 most games play at 1280x1024 with very minimal chop. I only got the MX4000 to replace my Ti4200 which blow a few months ago. I bought it in haste thinking it would be better than my old card since the MX4000 was fairly new and I bought the Ti4200 about 4 years ago. Turns out the Ti4200 was not only faster but supported my games as the MX4000 does not support any pixel shading. Pretty lame.. heh..

6200 is quite a bit slower than a 9800. a 9800 is just a bit quicker than a 6600 and a bit slower than a 6600GT.

But Certainly, the 6200 blows away a MX4000

I'd say get a 9800Pro or a 9600XT, but those are 130 and 100 retail, respectively.

Yeah, I kind of wish my old card didn't go out. It's an old Ti4200 64MB DDR 4x but at least that one would've run these games I've been trying to play. The card seems to still work, it just doesn't "tell the monitor to turn on." Computer boots, everything else seems fine... just no video.. lol.. I haven't test the S-Video port on the old one yet. Maybe I'll hook it up to the 27 inch TV and see what happens.

Either way, I'm going to go with the 6200 on Newegg. It's about 4x's faster than the old Ti4200 and has the compatiblity and pixel shading I need. Maybe I'll have the wife buy me a better card for Christmas. Until then, this should do fine. ;) Thanks again all. :)

Or you could just get a used 9500 Pro (around $50) and save that extra cash towards getting your real card.
