Help me pick a new camera

I'm overwhelmed by all the different options. I have price of about 250-275
in mind.

Any suggestions?

ya i like the specs. especially the zoom. but wondering if it will be a bit heavy to carry around.

there were 5-6 camera deals and i was going through all reviews.

What features are you looking for that makes this "canon only?"

How about 5 MP, 6x optical zoom, and IS to boot?

i dunno much about cameras. but i want 5MP and good optical zoom.
doesn't have to be canon i guess. but i hear good things about it.
and lot of AT users seem to have canon according to the last poll a while ago.
