Here are the choices my provider gives me.

Sony Ericsson R300LX
Your Price
$49.99*

Sony Ericsson T61LX
Your Price
$99.99*

Motorola V60
Your Price
$249.99*

Nokia 5165
Your Price
$49.99*

Nokia 3360
Your Price
$79.99

Nokia 6360
Your Price
$149.99*

Nokia 8265
Your Price
$149.99*

There are also some panasonics available... but I don't think I want one of them

There are only two things that are important. I want the best reception possible and I want it to have a vibrate feature.

I am upgrading from a Nokia 6100 which has no vibrate and crappy reception at my house.

I'm an on call tech so reception is the most important feature in the world. If I can provide some sort of proof that one of the phones listed above will have better reception than my current phone I'm certain I can expense it.

I'm asking because I basically have no idea on how to rate cells... any input would be helpful...

Thanks

Well, if price is no issue the v60 is an obvious choice.

It's pretty much the king of cell phones (besides the über ones that sprint offers..)

I would get either the Nokia 8265 or the Motorola V60... But seeing that the Nokia is $100 cheaper, I would get that one personally...

Both phones have great reception and have the features you are looking for... Of course, receiption also depends greatly on your provider, not just the phone... So you might wanna ask around and maybe switch providers as well...

I live in the suburbs of Chicago so reception is generally good just about everywhere. That's the thing... I used to not have a problem then about a month ago I started getting missed calls and VM from times when I know I had my phone on me and working.... it's like the phone was off but it wasn't... Maybe my one year old chewed on it to much... :D

Get the Nokia 8265 then a V60.

I went from an 8260 to a V60 and preferred the 8260. Much better interface and you can get custom ringtones and graphics. With the Motorola you can't (at least not that I know of).

Battery life on the 8260 is much much better too.

I have the 6360, and I like it.
Not too small, not to big.
Great battery life and signal!
