Never get a first year of a new model.. wait till 2005 on the new F150 trust me on that.. they will fix some weird $h!t in the first year EVERY time

I regularly get 14-15 mpg in my 2003 Dodge Ram HEMI quad cab.

The cab is far more spacious than either the 2003 Ford or Chevy half-tons were.

The engine kicks ass.

I find it very comfortable. And the cab was palatial compared to either Ford or Chevy. (Half tons vs. half tons.)

If you are gonna tow a 5th wheel, do yourself a favor and go with a 3/4 ton. And based on experence, I would not get a Dodge for towing unless you have the trans beefed. I would go with a Chevy just for the Allison. I would shy away from a Ford for the same reasons LAUST stated if you are picking a 1/2 ton.

Thanks for the advice RE the 5th wheel. I've towed them before and know what to expect. It is a lite 24', quite doable with a 1/2T, but a 3/4T is more comfortable. Who knows, I may just use the folks Duramax if I tow it anyhow as it has the hitch already.

I definetly won't be springing for a 3/4 just for the trailer regardless! 🙂

I am looking to get a 99 or 00 GMC Sierra or Chevy Silverado. Smaller V8 and extended cab. Ive found quite a few in the 10-12k range which is what Ive got to spend.

Nope, last one I was was back in the 87 GM box body style.. damn I wish they did though.. I would love to have a duramax in my truck 😀

Well, I know that Chev/GM put the 6.5 in well into the late 90s, but it doesn't look like its available anymore (crappy engine anyhow!)

my dad just got a ford 350 with a v10 in it, its hella nice, but then again its a 3/4 ton truck he says he gets about 14 mpg which is near what his old f150 got him

Rumour was ford will have a V6 diesel next year. Main problem is these new trucks can't handle the mass of a diesel engine. think 7-900 lbs vs. 1300-1500 lbs. engine. Plus the allison tranny needed to withstand the high tq.
That program has been put on hold until 2006 maybe later. Ford needs to start selling cars and trucks at a profit before expanding their product line again.
