I live in NH, offer 1 is in MA offer 2 is in NH. Ok, everybody I have talked to so far is leaning towards offer 2. I have talked to the recruiter and put asked for 72k. I told him I will stop by at lunch and sign that offer if they come back with that offer. Lets see what happens. I am sure they will negotiate, 4k is not that bad.

If you are presently in NH and Option #2 is in NH; then the difference becomes less.
You did not indicate benefits for Option #2.
Also as stated previous, bonuses are just that; nothing to count on.

If the salary difference is less than 10% (without taking into account bonuses) the stree is better for Option #2

Offer 2 FTW!!

I would try and negotiate them up a bit, using your second offer as leverage. They will likely go a bit higher than 68k. I would tell them you have another offer for 80k but you really want to work for them, and then ask if they could come up in salary a bit to compensate. I'd ask them for 75k and settle for 72-73k.

EDIT: I'd actually say "somewhere in the mid-seventies" when you are asking them. They may offer you more than you are expecting.

I work in MA, live in NH, and pay MA income tax.

wow! congrats man, option #2 will be good. I have commuted before and right now live 10 mins away from my job. Living 10 mins away is much better. You get more energy when you're at work. Even though you're sitting in your car, it still takes a lot of energy from you. Also, you can wake up 1 hour later too!
 
Ok, so the update is that I am now waiting for a official offer letter. I told them I will sign for 72 and they came back 3 hours later and said OK, 72 it is.

so 72K + awesome benefits + may be a bonus

No offense, but CPA's can be wrong too. You WILL pay MA state tax, even if you live in NH.

I live in NH and work in MA and the 5% gets taken away from me.

Just for the record, I moved from MA to NH 5 years ago just haven't updated my AT profile.

I believe Azurik is correct. If you work in MA but live in NH you still have to pay 5% MA income tax.
 
im going to have to go with everyone and say number 2.

but there are a few other things to consider. which job would YOU like more to work for? job security? is there room for advancement in either company?
