Here are my specs:

* Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA motherboard
* Intel E6300
* 1GB (2 x 512MB) CORSAIR XMS2 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 675 (PC2 5400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory
* BFG 6800 OC (plain vanilla)
* X-Fi Xtreme Gamer Fatal1ty Pro sound card
* ATX 500 watt power supply

I don't even know where to start. I'm not trying to squeeze maximum performacne out of my machine. My games and programs run fine, but I just want some more performance because I've read that the intel chips overclock very well.

1. Do I need to download some overclocking software?
2. Obviously, I have to overclock the CPU, but do I also have to overclock the motherboard?
3. Do I also have to overclock my RAM?
4. Even if I overclock my RAM, will my motherboard support the faster speeds?

BTW, I've found this article talking about my motherboard.
http://www.pro-clockers.com/review.php?id=207&page=7

So the 2 questions are, (1) is it possible to go over the 291 MHZ wall and be super stable, and (2) how fast will the CPU be if I stay at 291 MHZ?

Thanks.

on ur processor: Multi is 7, fsb is 266.5 at stock so 7x266.5=1860Mhz... if u raise it to 291... then 7x 291=2037Mhz... that is almost 200 mhz increase... which is very little and ur mobo should definitly handle that increase...
Since u dont know nothing about OC-ing u better start reading that article he suggested :) before some1 tells u how to do it...and burn something by mistake.
U could use software to overclock it... but the best way that every1 does it usually is through bios... I think u should be able to to hit at least 2100-2200Mhz without changing anything else but the fsb speed in bios...

Ok. here are some specs I looked up.

FSB 1066/800MHz

What is this spec?

What is the 291 MHZ limit the article is talking about?
