Help me match these speakers (looking for rear speakers)

Unless your playing 5.1 audio, matching front/center to rear really doesn't matter all that much. Surround speakers(which is what I assume you mean by "rear") are just for ambient and the occasional "special" effect.

Then do you recommend a good surround speaker? My experiments in the value bin have resulted in very mediocre sound stages. i.e. the rears effects always sounded tinny/face compared to the rich, full sound from the tower speakers /sub up front

And it is for a 5.1 system, fyi

I'm using a pair of Polk RT10s for my rear surrounds, and I've been quite happy with them. Probably anything from the entry line of a good speaker manufacturer will do the job - emphasis here is on "good speaker manufacturer". The Polk R150s that PurdueRy suggested are probably a good idea.

Thanks for the suggestions - any recommendations with built in mounts?
I don't think you'll find any with built-in mounts, but you very well might find some with keyhole mounting holes.

P142 and P152 have the screw mounting hook/hole thing like erwos mentioned

Polk Monitor 30s and Monitor 40s are both pretty damn nice as surrounds. (And cheap, for the value) I use them. Not voice matched certainly, but anything but tinny.

I also have some Onkyo speakers with dual 5.25" drivers I am trying to sell. PM me if you have any interest.

I picked up those speakers years ago and I love them, but I've had a hard time finding a good match for rear (5.1) speakers. I'll admit that I've taken the cheap route, opting for $40 sets from names such as KLH and .. gulp.. optimus.

Suggestions?

I have those same speakers! They're kickass. I have a set of Bose 301s as my rear speakers. Its not a perfect match, but I got them for free, and they do the job well enough.

I have those speakers and still use them. I match them with Infinity ref. 2001.3 for rears and sides. They are hard to find but I got them years ago. Very powerful unassuming speakers. Maybe ebay has some. I have a couple of pairs of the ref. 2001.1 in storage that also worked great. I use 2 for my center and have them bridged together.

I think they are called RS3. They are these or very simular
