Help me get my new 8kta3 to 133 FSB

Has anyone been successful getting a 100mhz T-bird to 133mhz with this board? I have tried everything. I have tried underclocking the cpu to 5.5 before setting the 133 FSB. I have tried raising the voltage to the max without success. My cooling should be sufficient (fop38 with arctic silver). It seems no matter what I do as soon as I put the FSB jumper on 133mhz my system fails to post. Everything works great at 100mhz. I am able to get my 900mhz T-bird to 1040 without problem. This is a very frustrating problem as this board,when set up exactly the same as my KT7, does not preform as well. If I can't get the 133mhz FSB to work I have pretty much paid $145 to decrease my performance.

My system:
8kta3
900mhz tbird
256MB Mushkin rev. 2 ram
Radeon 64mb DDR
IBM 75GXP 45GB HD X2 (striped)
Everything else has been removed for troubleshooting.

Thanks,

the epox 8kta3 is a great board (i have one :).

my duron running at 8*140 MHz =1120 Mhz.
and its stable as my msi kt7pro2a!!!!!!!!

maybe your t-bird is not able to work at this high fsb.

ps: i dont believe that you kt7 performs better then the epox (with 100 Mhz FSB).
i have also a msi kt7pro2a and ist a GREAT (i think the best kt133 board) but the msi board is not the fastest.

no i dont have to unlock the duron.

my duron runs on the 8kta3 with 8 * 140 MHz out of the box :)
even 145 mhz are possible with crucial memory from my friend (but my ram is not that good. noname cas3).

sorry, dont know the brand (to lazy to open my case :)

The t-bird is unlocked. I also have a 600mhz Duron that is unlocked and it will not do 133 on this board. The memory performance of this board is not what it was with the KT7. I tried many different combinations of memory settings and the best score I can get from Sandra is 471. I was getting 515 with the kt7. I was running my t-bird at 1030 on the Kt7 because 1040 was never quite stable enough. I am finding that this is also the case with the 8kta3 but with this board the multipliers are even numbers so I have to move back to 1020. Oh well, this was an impulse buy at a computer show. I guess it is time to move back to my KT7 until I can get a processor that will work at 133 in this board.

One more question before I give up though. When you set the jumper to 133 does it reset the processor back to the default multiplier?

Thanks

my sandra 2001 memory scores (133 MHz)

ALU = 504
FPU = 559

(140 MHz)

ALU = 509
FPU = 569

and keep in mind, i have bad (cas3) noname ram!!

i have seen fpu scores close to 600 with 133 Mhz on this board.

I didn't think that AMD chips liked FSB overclocking..You are saying I can set my 1gig to 10x 140? I thought they were only stable to about 110 or less????

Ever see scores over 700 with a KT133 motherboard? There are at least 3 people here who have done it and that's not on a KT133A board but rather a KT133!

lol. :)

i dont say you get your t-bird to 1400 MHz!
i say i get my 800 mhz duron to 1120 mhz. :)

and i think your t-bird will run with 8*133 mhz :)

ist not the athlons who dont like FSB overclocking, its the VIA KT133.

ps: some memory scores with 4x interleaving and good ram are close to 700 (abit kt7a raid).
are these 3 results confirmed? :)

if it is true, you will see even higher scores in the future on kt133a boards :)

Hmm, maybe there is somthing wrong with my board. It absolutely refuses to go to 133 and performance is pretty poor compared to my KT7. The sandra scores I posted above where with both boards running at 102mhz FSB, 133mhz memory clock, cas2, and 4x interleave. My 3dmark scores where also way out of whack with the KT7 @1020: 5409 3dmarks (1024 X 768 X 32bit). With the 8kta3: 4977 3dmarks all settings the same. I think I'll go back to my KT7 until I can get a CPU that will do 133 FSB.

Thanks

If you guys are talking about setting the memory from 100 to 133 then ocing..I have had mine to 146 stable that way..That was using Mushkin Rev. 1.5..I have since gotten Mosel and have not tried ocing that way.. Although it is a lot easier just changing to 12x100 ;)
