Your protein is lacking. Eat like a Monster and you will grow. I weigh 161 @ 5'4'' and I get 200-250 grams of protein per day... I am growing like a weed. My goal is 175. Ill be there by the end of summer.

You also juice. Juice is a whole different story.

I dont juice year round. This has nothing to do with juice. It has to do with eating for size.

Oh I know...I just wanted to point out the fact that you juice. 😀

Short bodybuilders make me laugh, no offense to you of course...but SO many of them are so hell-bent on getting as big as possible...and then walk around the gym acting like they're the "baddest thing on earth". LMS in FULL-EFFECT! I just don't get it.

You don't squat enough.

Forget calf raisers. Worst gym exercise ever. Your better off jumping with straight legs and little knee bend for 10reps x 3 sets.

Look how much upperbody exericse in relation to your legs. Do squats every session or at least 2 out of 3 sessions. 10reps x 3 sets to start with. Keep rest period short.

If your eating and you find yourself NOT gaining as much it is SIMPLE YOUR NOT EATING ENOUGH. EAT MORE FOOD. Everyone is different.

In 9 months I added 7lbs. I had to eat A LOT of food. I got that bored of eating I couldn't be bothered to eat the volumes of food and ate less and lost some weight.

GOT TO KEEP EATING.

I normally laugh as well since I am cool with my height. Even if I am a lean 175 I wont be massive.

Ive noticed I get more respect from taller guys since I am not scrawny but I do it for myself plus I like attention from girls, but I imagine alot of guys do as well.

I'll have to think of a way I can eat food whilst at class...

yah you gotta eat dude.

while you are ripped, you almost look unhealthy 😛

(not trying to be mean, just honest. i too was so ripped that it almost looked unhealthy and changed up my stuff when I was getting that comment from some people)

Squat more and eat more. Less flaffing about with small exercises unless doing wrist curls really help your rock climbing.

Good advice here. Squatting is one of the best exercises you can do period. It just very hard to get great, great form. The body normally has a couple imbalances.

Yeah, I steared away from squats, and clean/jerks for a few months, but over christmas I learned the form from a few personal trainers, so ive just recently been getting into that kind of stuff.

Some background info:

About 9 months ago, I decided that I wanted to gain some weight. I am currently 22 years old and 5' 11" tall. When I started, I weighed 128lbs. 9 months later, I weigh 144lbs, but my goal was to reach 160 after a year, so im falling a bit short.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a very high metabolism, so gaining is hard to do. First off: my diet:

Breakfast: 2 eggs, 2 slices bacon, whole wheat bagel, glass of milk + multivitamen.
Lunch: Lunch meat sandwich on whole wheat bread + potato chips
Snack1 (after gym): Whey protein shake (banana, milk, peanut butter, 30 grams whey)
Dinner: Usually consists of chicken breast of pork chop w/ potato or rice and a green veggie
Snack2(before bed): Several ounces of cheese w/ grapes and crackers.

I get 100+ grams of protein a day, and plenty of calories.

Should I consider starting to take creatine? Would this help with weight gain?

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Next off: my workout routine:

I do 3 sets of each exercise, and I start with my heaviest weight so that I max out after 9 or 10 reps in each set.

Each workout day, I also do alot of core + abs stuff inbetween each set of lifting.

I have a 3 day workout cycle:

Day 1: Chest / Triceps
Flat bench
Incline Bench
Pec Fly
One-arm tricep extension
Decline bench

Day 2: Shoulders / legs
Military Press
Lat Raise
Front Raise
Reverse Curl
Shoulder Shrugs

Leg Press
Leg Extension
Calf Raise
Squats

Day 3:Back / Biceps
I use hammer-strength machines for most back exercises
Compound Row
Underhand Row
Lat Pulldown
Dumbell Row
Bicep Curl
Wrist Curl
Reverse Wrist Curl

On the off-days, I do pushups, pullups, situps, etc...

-------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have seen amazing gains with the amount of weight I can lift, but I havent gained as much weight as I was expecting.

For example, my dumbell bench has gone from 70lbs to 140lbs, and barbell bench from 95lb to 165lb. Likewise, I can dumbell curl 40lb dumbells in a set of 10, when I started with 15lb dumbells. Having a single digit body fat, and weighing 144lbs, I look extremely muscular and toned, but i'd still like to put on more weight.

Is there anything else I can do to gain weight, such as the creatine I mentioned?

I'm due to start boxing later in the spring, so i'm hoping to pack on a few more pounds.

Thanks for any suggestions!

i was told that tuna is the key. eat lots of tuna. right before sleeping isn't bad either since it's very high in protein and very low in fat.

Squatting and Deadlifts FTW!!!

If the OP wants to gain weight (which, from the pics, he freaking needs to) Squatting and Deadlifts will help tremendously...in addition to the food.

Seriously, if I was the OP I'd be eating Pizza, Hamburgers, Fried Chicken...I wouldn't care how healthy it really was as long as it was food.

You can take Creatine if you want, but make sure to drink lots, and lots, and lots of water.

Man, all this talk about working out wants me to get back into the gym...if I only hadn't shredded a quad and my rotator last year I wouldn't have stopped...

You wanna gain 20 pounds? Start buying Snickers bars and Guiness by the case. After 6 cases of each, post back.....with an update of your weight

(btw...we expect you to eat all of the snickers and drink all the guiness by Monday morning)

I would recommend cottage cheese before bed. If I recall its a slow digesting protein. Fat is the least of your worries at this point.

Yup, Caseien (sp?) protein...good stuff...besides, cottage cheese tastes great anyway!

hmm.. well st. pattys day is just around the corner, so we will be getting a keg of guinness and about 3 handles of jameson. We usually start drinking about 7am, and work our way into the night. Ahh.. i love college.

How the heck do you eat all those fatty foods and yet still look ripped?

1. Where do you see "all those fatty foods"
2. He has a super-high metabolism, what's considered an ectomorph.

(This is stuff you should have learned in high-school).

I decided to order some Casein protein. I will take a serving (~35g) right before I leave for class in the morning. This should hold me over until I get a chance to eat lunch in the afternoon. In addition I will take another serving right before I go to bed. This should prevent catabolism both in the morning and at night when I have longer periods to go without eating.

This would bring my protein intake to near 180-200g.

Likewise, I will try to force down more carbs (maybe an extra meal of 1/2lb of pasta or something)

Damn dood you're in pretty good shape, I'm more muscular than you are but def. dont have your bodyfat composition. It's all about eating more, that's about it man. Nutrition too
