CD #1 so far...
oingo boingo - dead man's party
english beat - mirror in the bathroom
gotye - somebody that I used to know
big pig - breakaway
Obviously there's some synergy/similarity there, so I'd like to continue it. I feel like I'm light on female vocals. Possibly some Dia Frampton? Was also thinking it needed some Sting/Police, though the singer in the Gotye song sounds so much like him it might be duplicitous.
CD #2 has a spooky/sensual thing going on...
Shriekback - faded flowers
g tom mac - cry little sister
gus - don't fear the reaper
CD #3 is classical and instrumentals with an epic sound. Some choral vocals are fine, but trying to avoid it as much as possible.
Two Steps from Hell - Magika
Clint Mansell et al - Requiem for a Tower
Basil Poledouris - Anvil of Crom
John Williams - Duel of the Fates
Carl Orff - O' Fortuna
