Help me finish mission statement

I', trying to cobble together a mission statement for a club at my college. I have the following, but i need to put something in about hosting social activities:

A non-political student organization focused on being actively engaged in the community, learning about the natural world, and promoting the Environmental Studies program.

Thoughts?

Thanks, I ended up with "A non-political student organization focused on being actively engaged in the community, learning about the natural world, fostering relations between people with similar interests, and promoting the Environmental Studies program."
