I need an RF Transmitter(FM) .. something that hooks up to my line-out of my porta mp3-cdplayer and transmit the signals without loss to the airwaves that my radio can pickup?

know anything that does that.

Impossible, you're always going to have some loss going to FM. Walmart sells some but past experience has shown them to suck for me. Perhaps some place like crutchfield sells higher quality ones. Good luck :)

Maybe try another adaptor? You're gonna like that noise more than the cheap transmitter form walmart I promise you ;)

well not the high pitched whine from the rotating wheels (or whatever).
I tried cleaning the heads and tried a differnt one (the one which came with the player was a little better). Problem is when i turn the volume up.

I am going to Radio Shack to see if they got one what I need.
If not I will build one. I have some basic electronic designing skills. So I can pretty much build an fm transmitter.. just need something powerful enough to transmit about 30 feet.

T_G_G, DO NOT buy one of those pieces of sh!t. They are called "Sound feeders" and they ARE CRAP. I bought one for my wife one Christmas when I bought her a portable CD player. her tape deck didn't work. We picked the thing up, hooked it up in the parking lot, and about 5 minutes later, we were inside returning it. You will regret buying it if you do it. See if there is something you can plug directly into the antenna, like cd changers do. Surely, there is something that can do that. You don't want to go wireless.

thanks for the info.

I figured the problem is not with teh adaptor, but more like an "Alternator whine" that the system picks up.

fwiw, they sell filters for the "alternator whining." very cheap.

also, if your head unit has an RCA input, that could be a viable option as well.

I don't know about nowadays, but I remember in the early days of car CD changers, they typically worked off of the FM band. The unit installed in the trunk and had an FM transmitter to send the signal to the built-in radio. My brother had one in his old Thunderbird, and it definitely did a better job than a portable CD player with a cassette converter. Not sure where you can find this kind of stuff today, but you might try a shop that specializes in card audio.
