Here's something interesting: Paul Mariat both recorded the #1 hit instrumental version of "Love is Blue", and was the musical coordinator on the movie "Never on Sunday".]

That makes it even more plausible the two songs have a mixed song somewhere involving him, but I haven't found it.

Also, most of the song I'm looking for is different from either of those two songs - it just has that same few notes from 'Never on Sunday'.

I heard a piece of this today, but don't know what it's called. It was fairly big in years past...

doo doo doot / doo doo doot / doo doo doo doo doo doot x3(I think)with a shift up in pitch. This is done with a 'tubey' sounding organ.

Then the organ opens up a bit, and it goes something like this... deee doooo / deee deee dee dee dee dooo Not 100% sure on the exact phrasing of the open organ.

Edit:
Found it! but it probably isn't it. It has percussion. Billy May - So Nice

Ah, what a fun find that is - very recognizable 60's sound.

As for the song I'm looking for, think of its sister as 'Love is Blue'.

Does anyone know main instrument in that song? Whatever it is, that could be the one for the song I'm looking for.

By the way - Love is Blue, best use of harpsichord I can think of.

This thread seemed like years ago, but it's not even a year. Why not do a fresh check. I'm kind of leaning Herb Alpert as a gut feel.

Listened to this guy a few times looking around, probably not what you're looking for, but he's a pretty decent classical guitar player it sounds, listened to a few others and this really is not his best.

I might actually look into him more.

Isn't it a harpsichord?

some alternate version of never on sunday ?
I'm wondering too.

Probably not it as there's drums in it but...
Dizzy Gillespie = Never on Sunday
