Help me find a motherboard with this:

Im trying to build a small file/print server for my home lan, Im tying to find a board that can use DDR/184 pin ram and a PIII/Celly CPU.
Id like to find one with onboard video and sound, video is the primary concern, I really dont care about sound as Ive no speakers on the 'server'.

Or maybe there is one for an AMD Duron that can use DDR/184 pin and has onboard video and sound as well, again, video is the primary concern.
Ive searched around and have not found one

Ive found:
Biostar M6VLQ for Intel <or> Biostar M7VKS for AMD, but they both use SDRAM :0(
Worse comes to worse, Ill take one that can use DDR and put in a low grade AGP card.
Anyone got any ideas?
Thanks!

No I have not, I belive they are all pretty expensive for me to use as a headless file server for my 4 PC's.
But I will check them out as I have nothing to lose! Thanks

Just round the corner: PC-Chips M841LR. Has onboard graphics, sound and LAN, uses DDR or SDRAM, supports any Duron or Athlon, and has three PCI slots (and an AMR for the included V.90 modem).

regards, Peter

He is looking for a Socket 370 board with DDR support, and I personally don't know of any, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. Sorry, I couldn't help.

I don't understand the need for DDR. It would be running at PC1600, or 200 MHz. If you need the extra speed of fast memory, just go with a T-bird that will support the 133 FSB, and you won't have a problem finding a cheap board for that. Like the ECS K7S5A?

The need for DDR-
I just sold all my PC's that used PC100/PC133, my P4 rig uses DDR, so Id like to stay with DDR so if I ever sell the server parts, I can
keep the DDR and use it in that or the next PC. Im leaning towards Intel becuase Ive got a 250w PS laying around and since Ill have alot of drives (30GB/7200, 80GB/7200, 850MB/5400 <--2 of em in software raid in 2k server), DVD and CD drive) I dont think the AMD cpu would like it much (Ive run all that on the same 250w PSU and Intel before)

As for the CPU, I was thinking a Celly 900, might OC to 1.2 on a 133 bus, maybe?

I think ive found one, although no on board video, I think it fits my needs.

Whats your opinion(s)?

Its an ECS P6S5AT Thanks!

oh, oops, socket-370. Yes there are some ... ECS/PC-Chips make one with the SiS 635 chipset, PC-Chips calls it M700.
No onboard graphics however.

(There is no integrated-graphics chipset with DDR RAM support for P-III, so you only get one OR the other.)
regards, Peter

Anyone got any thoughts on the above ECS board? or better yet, anyone using it?

Im leaning towards getting it on Saturday from Mwave, along with 128MB DDR from Crucial (of course) and a celly 900

VIA's P266 chipset isn't very good, SiS 635 performs better.

So, you don't have the CPU already? Then why on earth do you want to combine the bus speed challenged Celeron with a zippy DDR board? No match ... by all means get a Duron or Athlon chip and the ECS K7S5A (SiS 735) or even better K7VTA3 v2 (VIA KT266A).

regards, Peter

Then with all the drives I have in it, I most likely would have to get a better PSU no?, the one I have (extra at the moment) is only 250w, the DDR reasoning is that I can most likely use that in the future better than PC133 ram.
Only thing Ive got now is the drives, PSU and case, agp card.
Plus its only for a headless file server for my 3 PC's, and the occasional terminal serv in while Im at work

hmmm, decisons decisions

You could get the motherboard I got for a small linux box. ECS K7SEM, it uses the Sis 730s chipset and uses SDR sdram. Has onboard video/sound/lan.

Do you really need the 5%-10% memory speed gain that DDR offers for a simple file/print server? Just a thought. I also read off anandtech's front page that VIA announced a DDR chipsetthat I believe will be used in micro atx boards.

Nope, I really dont need (and probably wouldnt notice) the 5-10% difference between DDR and SDRAM on the server, but Id like to have DDR as Ill have more options to use it in the future I think.

Well I made the order:

Biostar M6VLQ
Celly 1.0a
128mb PC133 (have another 128mb of pc133 on hand)
WD 40GB/7200 drive

Hope I have good luck at 133bus, thanks for the ideas on boards and ram!

Sorry I'm late. This appears to be a good deal on a new MSI-6366 Socket370 Cel/PIII 433MHz-1.1GHz DDR/SDRAM Mainboard w/Sound at www.compgeeks.com. If you use one of the %10 off coupons floating around it pays for most of the group shipping so your total cost is ~$43. I ordered this last week and I am still waiting for it to come in. They are a little behind on their shipping.
