Ok, it's REALLY dry in my apartment since my furnace is constantly running lately. I bought a Honeywell humidifier at Home Depot, but it is REALLY loud. Even on the low setting it keeps me awake.

So, I'm looking for a humidifier that does a good job of keeping the humidity up in my place, but is also quiet.

Now I'm not exactly clear on the different types of humidifiers. I see ones that look like they just emit a mist in the air instead of evaporating the water and blowing it out (which I think is what mine does)? The mist ones seem like they would be quieter, but do they work as well? Can anybody give me a good idea of what to look for?

And I don't really want to spend more than like $40 on this.

Thanks for any advice!

Ice is probably the cheapest and has a nice price/effectiveness ratio.
The more the better.

huh? why the lock on a humidifier question? Last year, I spent 2 moths looking for a de-humidifier for my house because there was too much moisture in the air. Most of the salespeople were dumfounded by the idea of removing moisture is not the same as putting it in.
