kinda like the difference between the social structure of lions and tigers
They don't necessarily share what you earn in Star Trek. At least that's my understanding. Ferengi comes to mind first, but they are not federation. But, how about Benzamin Sisco's father, who has a private restaurant in Big Easy? They just have different value system from money.

Your affiliation will be determined by your views on taxation, social programs, environment, religion/morality, and many other topics.
Search google for quizzes. Read up on each party.
I've taken some quizzes and the results are fairly consistent. I lean to the right. If it weren't for my views on religion/morality, I'd probably be to the far right.
I'm independent. I look at the other parties and most of those people are nutballs or too extreme. So, when it comes to election day, I will most like vote for Bush b/c I will NEVER vote for a democrat...
