Help me diagnose my modem: sporadic disconnects

I realize that most people are on broadband now, but what the hell. I just got a new modem today b/c I want v.92 w/ MOH. I also signed up for a new v.92 ISP. The modem is el cheapo Lucent LT modem from the geeks. I install the new modem - everything goes OK. But, when I go to connect to either ISP,it connects, then after a few minutes hangs up. Now this happens with BOTH ISPs. I have tried every LT driver under the sun and it still happens. Switched back the old v90 modem, everything works. Any ideas??? OR should I just RMA it (what a hassle for a $12 modem)

could be an irq issue, try this
go to bios look in intergrated perifrals and set com 2 to disable (some bios call it onboard UART)
