I succeeded in destroying my Lexar 128mb (one of the purple "guitar shaped" ones) one time, and it took no effort at all.
I was building a new system for a buddy, and plugged the front usb connectors into the mobo. Unfortunately, in my hurry to get this done, or something like that, I switched two of the connections around. A while later, I had to transfer a file to that computer, and put the info on my Lexar. Popped it out of my computer, inserted it into the other computer, and heard a POP!!, then saw a little wisp of smoke!!
That sucker is DEAD. And as cheap as they are nowadays, it wasn't worth even looking into getting it repaired.
I am, of course, not responsible for any damage to your mobo or jump drive if you decide to try this approach!
