I need a portable MP3 solution.

Portable MP3 player/CD-RW "walkmans" can be had for less than $30.

I could get one and burn/reburn CD-RW discs to listen to my music while on the road.

Is there an MP3 flash device I should consider instead of the CD-RW route?

I'm told that a 128MB device isn't worth it since it wont hold a single disc's worth of songs.

Please suggest an MP3 flash device or CD-RW solution you may know of.

Thank you for ANY help you can offer.

Well, consider that one CD = 700MB roughly. So you want at least a 1 gig player. How much do you really want to spend, and how much do you really want it? Mp3 players have size and convenience over a CD player, but a CD player is cheaper. However, with the CD player you must wipe and reburn the CD-RW, while as for the MP3 you can just plug and reorganize.

Yeah, it really comes down to how much are you willing to spend? I have both. Obviously, I never use the CD/MP3 player since I got an ipod.

I'm in the same boat. I had a CD/MP3 player, upgraded to an IHP-140. It really depends on what you want. The CD based units are cheap, quite mature indeed, and very functional. They are what you would expect them to be: necessarily more than 120mm across(not always too much more), somewhat vulnerable to shock, excitingly cheap, and capable of playing ordinary CDs as well. You absolutely cannot beat the price; but a 1GB flash player will be more shock resistant, and have longer battery life.

If you ever want to use the player while exercising, then I'd go with a flash player.

Yes I realize how much space is on a CDRW.

I'm looking to keep the price below $30.

I'm guessing that sticks me with a MP3/CD Player unless you guys know of something better/cheaper in the flash catagory.

If not, what MP3/CD player would you suggest?

Walmart has a Colby and a Panasonic.

The Panasonic has a small LED screen on the side, edge of the player.

The Colby has a 3-line LED screen on the top of the player.

Does the edge type of screen show just one line?
Is it good enough?

Thanks for everyone's input.

Personally, I'd opt for the larger screen. Unless your tastes run toward 15 minute songs in 320kb/s, you'll end up with a fair few on the disk. Having a real navigation interface will make your life better.
