Hey, this is my first LCD purchase and I don't want to spend tooooo much on one, but I think I've narrowed it down to these two choices....

ViewSonic VA712B-1 Black 17" 8ms LCD

(It sells for $239.00 + $10 shipping at Newegg.)

And this....

SAMSUNG 710N Black 17" 12ms LCD Monitor

(It sells for $259.00 - $20.00 MIR + $10 shipping at Newegg.)


I think they'd both be pretty good for me... play DAoC and some FPS games. Let me know what you think... Thanks guys!

 
well the samsung only has a VGA connection whereas the viewsonic has VGA and DVI

the viewsonic has a power brick whereas the samsung has a straight power cord.

personally i'd choose neither
 
I would pick the ViewSonic VA712B-1 Black 17" 8ms LCD. It's cheaper( $239.00 > $259.00) and the seek time is also faster -8 ms versus 12 ms.
Even though the prices aren't that much different, I say the Viewsonic one is better for games. The 8ms seek time means less ghosting and more enjoyable gaming experience.
