i did check their also, but then again, look at all the 128mb ti4200's they all have the 500mhz clock
I like my Ti4200 64mb Gainward from Newegg. Dont have much to compare too but the graphics are very nice and it overclocks well also.

I say get the Abit Siluro GF4 Ti4200 or the Gainward GF4 Ti4200 at newegg.
64mb of ram is more than enough for what you want to do.
128mb of memory only comes into play when you are running resolutions higher than 1024X768 @32bit color with AA full blast and all the eye candy pumped full blast.
Otherwise the 64mb cards will be perfect for 1024x768 game play with 32 bit color and AA at a low level or turned off completly.
Use Nvidias latest reference drivers and an overclocking utlity and it wouldnt hurt to buy one of those pci slot cooling fans and place it right next to the agp slot and blow the hot air directly off your videocard. Keep in mind the Ti4200's don't have ram heatsinks but you can buy them for cheap and get the most out of your card by OC'ing . You can of course run the Ti4200's at their defualt speed and they will preform nicely that way to.

I went through the same thing you're going through now silencer534, when I was trying to decide between a ti4400 and the 64/128MB versions of the ti4200. I found this review over at x-bit labs pretty helpful.
I ended up going with a 64MB Gainward Ti4200, but I definitely plan on upgrading to an NV30 or the 'spring refresh' version of it. With that said, I'm also running my card at just above ti4400 speeds full-time.

One has the VIVO and nVIEW (which I don't care about anyway). I'm looking at both these products at newegg and I want to get the cheaper one but i'm not positive it is the right card, anyway somebody with some knowledge please shed a little light, or if you know a better place to buy the Gainward GeForce4 PowerPack! Ultra/650XP Golden Sample.

No matter what card you get it would be moot anyways due to your old monitor. Basically any GF3 can do 1024x768. Also your going to run it at less than 1024x768 anyways since your monitor's max support is 1024x768 @ 60hz and you don't want to play FPS's at 60hz unless you have a barf bag available.

If your only going to be using till ~december then go for the 64 meg! Its a way better overclocker and will get the job done till atleast december.
The less expensive one doesn't have any VIVO functions or the DVI output (basically what some people call a 'pure' version of a card).
As far as the Gainward cards go, I don't know too much about their product lineup details, but it appears that their 128MB cards have the same 500mhz default memory clock of a normal non-Gainward 64MB ti4200 card. However their 64MB cards seem to be equipped with 3.5ns RAM (which would be rated for ~570mhz DDR if I did the math right) and they seem to come with their memory clocked to 514mhz by default (at least that's how mine was). Both versions have the normal spec core speed of 250mhz from what I understand.
For me it ended up being a pretty easy decision as there was a $35 difference between the 64 and 128MB versions when I purchased ($134 vs $169 respectively). I plan on upgrading in the next product cycle or two, so I just wanted to get the best bang for the buck for the games that I'll be playing between now and then.
Man, just buy the card already.
