Help me decide! Comcast Cable + Broadband *VS.* DirecTV + SBC DSL

So I'm moving to my new place in a month, and I have two choices for my internet + tv fix:

Option 1:
Comcast cable - $19.99 first 3 months, $50 each month afterwards (Digital Classic Package)
Comcast cable modem - $19.99 first 3 months, $42.95 each month afterwards

Option 2:
DirecTV - $49.99 /month, includes 2 receivers & DirecTIVO (Total Choice Plus w/ Local Channels)
SBC DSL - $26.95 / month


My only concern with DirecTV is that I might not be able to get a clear line of sight to the satellites.

Call up your local satellite guy and have him come and check it out (Most will do this for free), if you're clear buy it from him (they make a bit more off it).

amnesiac, make sure you call them and VERIFY that it's 19.95 for Digital Cable and NOT 19.95 + 50.00 for digital cable.

i signed up for a $19.95 for digital cable package and they charged me $70.00 for the first month and said that would be the rate.

i paid them ONLY 19.95 and canceled.

for me it does

altho sadly i have sbc already so using comcast interent for computer philanthrophy (read seti at home and cancer research 😀 )

that's what they told me too when i ordered it, i asked them like 3 different times and each time they said the same thing.

however when they billed me they said there is $19.95 for digital and $50.00 for basic cable and then on TOP of that $50.00 for cable internet.

just moved into a new house in Flower Mound TX, but no DSL (checked with SBC and Verizon)...

since going back to dialup was not an option, had to go with Comcast..

free for first few months, then it will be $42 and also got the digital classic ($45/month???)...been on it for two days...ok so far...

you must be one of the lucky few, because they need to log your modem MAC in order to allow you to get online, i think.
