HELP ME decide between these 2 motherboards for Socket 939 PCI-Express

i will be installing everything that is in my signature into it. first up is a board from abit -
abit KN8 ultra
second up is a board from gigabyte -Gigabyte GA-K8N PRO SLI i have no interest in SLI as i use ATI video cards and am not interested in crossfire either as i think it is a waste of money, so one PCI-E slot is enough for me. the reason i am looking at the gigabyte board is for the dual bios it has.

budget is around $100 or less since i do not need SLI and i am a moderate overclocker, light to medium gamer and multi task a lot

Whats wrong with your ASrock dual? I've built a couple machines with that same board and its rock solid. The chipset doesnt run as hot as the nf4 chipsets also.

Are you sure it is the motherboard and not the ram? If you really wanted a new motherboard.. i would just go with the dfi ultra-d since ocz ram tends to love dfi boards.

Yreka, that board does not support X2. at least the description doesn't list it

Sure it does, there are several people using X2s & Dual Core Opterons on them. Neweggs specs may be out of date, since there were no dual cores when the board came out. Check the description under shell guys link.

Newegg also has a refurb version for $86 if you are into that kind of thing.

To this day I don't know why anyone choses anything other than the DFI Lanparty

Edit: If you want proof that the DFI will work with dual core chips, just look in my sig 🙂 Please edit that post as it may falsely turn people away

Heh, lol.

Maybe it's cause not everyone likes having to tweak things for days just to get their system stable.
I know, i know, usually that's not the case.

But it's also a problem a lot more common on DFIs than other makers.

I bought the Ultra-D as my PCI-e transition mobo, & i couldn't get my system anywhere close to stable.
After an entire day of f*cking around, i gave up & returned it for my current mobo.

That's just a thought...

I wouldnt waste my money on SLi board if I wasn't planning on getting SLi or I had an ATi card might as well get a crossfire board. btw I think SLi and Crossfire are stupid I would suggest just a one pci-e board.

Noisy chipset cooler?
No need for SLI and need for the missing normal PCI slots?
