Help me decide: Asus P4C800-E, Asus P4P800, Abit IC7, or Abit IS7

Please, oh please help me decide. I've read every thread, review, and forum there is and my brain is overflooded with info. I simply can't choose one over the other. What would be your guys' preference?

Money really isn't an issue.

I read anand's mobo roundup, and like the Abit IS7. However Asus' new P4c800-E looks pretty darn good. But it is also brand new.

I plan on going with a P4 3.0c. I'd like to hit 3.4ghz, but I'm not worried about ungodly overclocks.

I was planning on going with 2x256 of Corsair XMS 3500. Or do you think the OCZ 3700 "EL" gold would be a better bet?

I'll be using a single WD Raptor as my boot drive if that helps with anything.

thanks

May as well get a gig of ram if you have the cash, it will help, especially with such a fast system. Get the P4C if you have the cash to spare as well.

I would get the Abit IS7-G with the P4 3.0C processor and 1gig of Corsair PC3500 memory.

Don't forget to get a good HSF.

My Abit IS7 mobo (with 3Com GigLan) and Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu HSF is on the way. Trying to decide on a processer, either the 2.6c or wait 3.0c.

I have already ordered that Zalman HSF.

Though after looking at the pictures of the new Asus P4c800-E, I'm not so sure it will fit that board.

I already know it will fit the IC7-G

Any other votes/opinions?

I plan on ordering sometime tonight. I'd like to hear as much feedback as possible.

Thanks

IC7. With the new 14 BIOS, it screams. Many people are coming to the conclusion that it is THE 875/865 board. Fast, stable solid board.

Get 1 gig of ram, it's cheap right now & the Asus mobo.

Recomend Kingston HpyperX pc3500 512mb for $127 each.

I paid $500 for 16mb of ram back in 1988 .....

Regards,
Jose

Oh man, you guys are making this difficult.

Half of you are saying the Abit, the other half the new Asus.

They are both great boards, don't think I could "really" go wrong either way.

Still having a hard time pulling the trigger though.

I have everything else either ordered or decided upon, just not the stinkin' mobo!!! Urrrggghhh!

Jose: I didn't see the Hyperx mentioned on the asus compatibility list for the new -E mobo either ( the corsair xms3500 was though)

And which Asus mobo Jose? the P4P800, or the new P4C800-E?

Thugs carries alot of weight...he wouldn't steer you in the wrong direction, but then again he's an extreme tweaker...as for the ram, I've heard some really good things about OCZ 3700 gold(it only comes in 256 meg flavor though). Despite the company's somewhat dark history, they seem to be under new management and have been turning out a pretty decent product not to mention they're intent on providing extremely good customer service. The DFI 875pro lan party has been able to achieve some outstanding numbers when oc'd, some are saying it is the best oc'ing mb out there right now...no firewire though. Decisions, decisions....

Dont be fooled by a board that overclocks to a high number, but underperforms. I also think that PC3700 is way to $$. It also will not run tight timings and doesn't like to be used with a ratio. Save some $$ and get some good PC3200 from Corsair or Kingston HX.

And just get the IC7 already!

OldFart....how ya been? Ya "OldFart"! You may be correct Fart ol'boy...the ocz does have tight timings, but you'll never get the same speed as you will with a 1:1 divider. Anyhow, as I said you may be correct if he doesn't want to play around too much with oc'ing...besides if the abit is good enough for thugs....

the new bios files really woke the IC7 boards up.

i also have an ASUS p4p800 sitting here.
it overclocks a little farther but its actual performance is about 4fsb below the IC7 :Q

besides ~ anytime me and oldfart agree, must mean its a good product! ;)

Abit if you enjoy flash over substance. "Game Accelerator Mode"

might have amused me when I was 13, but it doesn't now. That and the horror show going on in the Abit newsgroup have led me to look elsewhere.

Lot of substance with the Game Accelerator actually. It provides a large increase in performance over previous BIOS versions. In fact, from the testing I've seen, it makes the IC7 the fastest 875/865 board available. The newsgroups are always full of people with problems. People who aren't having a problem don't usually post.

i'd actually recommend the Thermalright SLk-900U and a ThermalTake SmartFan 2 or Panaflo 92MM high output for cooling. it fits every P4 mobo (works with stock retention device)

IC7 is a sweet mobo for sure, especially after the mature bios updates, but I don't think anybody knows what the P4C800-E will do yet.

it's much higher priced than something comparable like the P4P800 DX or IS7. Both of which are just as fast

I am in the same boat and I am currently trying to decide between the IC7 and the new P4C800-E to go with a P4 2.6C and I haven't decided on the memory yet.
