Few days ago, WindowsME crashed and I press reset button. Then the whole system went dead. The power is on, but no BIOS post..etc. just a pure blank screen. Then I do a cold reboot, but it doesn't work. So I leave the computer off for 30 mins(probably) and turn back on again. This time the BIOS does post, but at 333(66x5.5)MHZ. Because I can't enter the OS, I then do a fresh installation. Here I discovere those strange problems:
1. I can't install Windows XP.....I never got pass the partition or user license screen. It just freezes there.
2. The installation of Windows 98 goes horribly wrong. The process crashes several time. It took me ages to get once right.
3. I can no longer overclock my P!!! to 733MHZ. The highest I can go is the default CPU frequency:550MHZ
4. Installation of big software like Office 2000, DirectX 8.1 SDK also crashes several times.
I use this system for 2 years. Never meet those problem before.
I try everything,Flash BIOS, clear CMOS..etc. Nothing works. I did discover something.Four testing LEDs on my Soyo 7VCA doesn't follow the usual boot up procedure when I press the reset(if the system crashes). All four just stay lit(In manual, all 4 lit means control is handed to OS by BIOS).
Does anyone know what's the problem?
