On more modern pc's, there is usually an onboard jumper that will accomplish the same thing without pulling the battery.
its not that. I remember it was some messed up password, didnt have to do with nothing, and had numbers also....

Not on a Toshiba laptop it won't. I've field-stripped those things down to the motherboard and left the BIOS battery disconnected for 24 hours and the password remains.

Failing that, Toshiba have hinted to me quietly that there is a loopback connector available for the parallel port which you have to attach and then boot the system while holding a certain key down. If you call them and say that you're calling back

Yeah ive tried toshy99, didnt work.
Yeah ive read about the parallel port trick, but didnt think it would work + i dont have an old parallel port i can take apart. Maybe i could just stick wires in the right holes?

You should be able to, but I doubt Toshiba will give you the information on the correct pins to join; best thing to do is to call a local Toshiba dealer who will be able to phone their Tosh rep (if need be) or actually remove the password for you.
The loopback connectors do exist, but I'm fairly sure that Toshiba will only either sell you one at an inflated price, or refuse to release them to end users.
I used to have a little file you put on a floppy and booted from it and it fixed a password on
a gateway laptop that my newphew had password protected the bios setup on but I can't
seem to find it on my computer and the name escapes me now but it did the charm on
the gateway for sure.
I agree that the password is flashed on a chip on the mb and unless you pay big bucks for the
chip and to also have it replaced you are really up the creek. I sold some good IBM 600X laptops
a while back because they were password protected and they went cheap.
I'll keep looking and if I find the file I'll email it to you. As a matter of fact most virus scanners pick
it up and call it a trojan and warns you when you download it.
